Tri Delta’s chosen philanthropy is Children’s Cancer Charities. In conjunction with this effort, Tri Delta enjoys a partnership of the heart with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Tri Delta’s philanthropy allows chapters and members to choose to support a local project like children’s hospital or a cancer camp and to support the efforts of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Whatever the choice, Tri Deltas are joining together to offer financial and volunteer contributions to the research and treatment of children with cancer. Together Tri Delta is making a difference.
10 in 10 for St. Jude
Tri Delta has committed to name the Patient Care Floor in the new Chili's Care Center at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This commitment is for $10 million over a period of 10 years!
In 2005-2006, Tri Delta women raised more than $1 million for St. Jude. The following year in 2006-2007, Tri Delta once again raised the bar and raised $1.6 million for the kids at St. Jude in just one academic year. Currently, Tri Delta has raised $2.9 million toward the 10 in 10 goal.
Each chapter was asked to raise $62,500 in the 10 years or less.
Our chapter is so close to reaching this goal – we have only $7,000 to go! After we reach it, our chapter will earn a plaque, with our name on it, which will be placed outside of a patient room.
This past year, 2008-2009, our chapter raised over a total of $18,000 for St. Jude. We hosted our first DHOP(Delta House of Pancakes) event, a campus-wide philanthropic fundraiser which sold tickets for an evening of unlimited pancakes. This event was a tremendous success and we raised over $4,000 as well as received an All-Greek award for Best Philanthropy because of our chapter’s collaborative efforts and for engaging the UCI community to support a great cause. We also hosted our Sincerely Yours Letter Writing Campaign within the chapter which raised over $14,000 and our annual Valentine’s Bake Sale raised $250.
